A Tale of Three Bills: the poodle bites

Perhaps surprisingly, the Prime Minister’s Intelligence and Security Committee is set, tomorrow, to slate the proposals while backing a simpler and safer way to gain access to communications data and join the Joint Committee on the Draft Communications Data Bill (also reporting tomorrow).

Now this I can’t wait to see!

Still no word on either the Joint Committee on Human Rights reporting, the Australian Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security reporting, or of any Canadian Committee being set up although media coverage of the issue has increased in the last few weeks. Perhaps the Canadian government is waiting to see how the UK and Australian governments react to their committee reports? After all, if they both stop the plans, why should Canada continue with them?
